Swiss singer songwriter Veronica Fusaro hopes to brighten up the long winter ahead of us with her brand new EP, ‘Sunkissed’, released today October 4.
The first single, ‘Lie To Me’, was released in the early summer, and sets the tone for the rest of the record, with laid back lyrics and vocals, and a drawn out instrumental track. There’s a sense of transience, almost temporariness, which is appropriate for a record launched in the autumn which deals with summertime feelings.
‘Rollercoaster’ is just exactly that, a celebration of the topsy-turvy joys of love, sert to a Motown-style beat, while ‘Run My Mind’ takes a musical roadtrip through the prairies of North America. ‘Hello Old Friend’ deals with reuniting with a friend, and trying and failing to summon up the courage to act on desires, and final track ‘All I Ever Wanted’ is also about past love, and the revelation that sometimes, words can only be said by the medium of music.
Speaking of ‘Sunkissed’, 22 year old Fusaro said,
“The EP is like a novella,” says the 22-year old Fusaro. “The songs are all connected but they are designed to conjure a mood rather than tell a story with a beginning and an end. I want to hold on to the sunny moments for as long as possible because I know that each summer evening could be the last before the
weather turns cold again.”
Veronica Fusaro will be performing at Paper Dress Vintage, Hackney, on October 15. You can find further details here. ‘Sunkissed’ is available to stream and download here.
