Honor Flow Productions hail from Los Angeles, California, and bring with them the influences of their home town. Their single, ‘The Speed Of Light’, comes from their second album, ‘The B.L.A.C.K. Odyssey’, and presents the trio’s thoughts on the concept of “freedom”, while entwined in themes of self-expression, spirituality, romance, self-discovery, and personal joy.
‘Alright’ is a retro-style song, complete with Wurlitzer organ instrumentals, and an 80s vibed music video. HFP’s sound is an energetic blend of soul, funk, house, jazz, and rock, overlaid by some fancy rhyming which flows out of them so easily that they make it seem as though anyone could do the same. Upbeat and uptempo, ‘Alright’ focuses in turn on each of HFP, with them spitting out the verses in turn.
Lines such as “‘Cause, where I’m from it ain’t cookies and cream/Or champagne dreams, it’s crooks and fiends” illustrate their situation, but they show that life is about making the best of whatever situation you find yourself in. “If you feeling alright? Well alright.”
Comprising DJ Chuck “thE oLd SouL”, DJisLORD, and ELIM8, HFP are known for their live shows, which command the attention of the audience, as well as their relatable songwriting, and thunderous melodies. Their aim is to not simply produce music, but also to break boundaries and cross genres with their sound.
HFP’s sophomore album, ‘The B.L.A.C.K. Odyssey’ (‘Beyond Light Years Away Carrying Knowledge’) is packed full of other equally uplifiting and positive tracks. HFP have been joined on the record by some of the best vocalists and musicians in the LA scene, and the collective has been dubbed, “The B.L.A.C.K. Odyssey Players”. The group include the likes of Noreik Thascool, Phantom Thrett, Shadows Of Society, Tricia Isabela, and Luna. Each artist brings with them their own interpretations, their own ideas, and energy, and together share them as one entity.
