Sophia Mina – ‘Run To’

We’ve written about Sophia Mina before, the London artist whose Cypriot and Chinese heritage combine to give her a sassy defiant attitude and a love of pop and R&B. Now she’s back, with her latest track, ‘Run To’, including a new video, which has already seen close to 5000 views in the short week since its release.

The video is an homage to London, highlighting the city’s streets, brightly coloured houses and shop fronts. It’s been shot during this year’s record-breaking heatwave and Sophie takes full advantage of it, dancing in her summer clothing under the bright blue skies. The song unapologetically takes inspiration from the Queens of the 90s – Britney, Xtina, and Aaliyah. ‘Run To’ is a perfect match for Mina’s voice and style, so it’s a surprise to discover it wasn’t always going to be her song:

“I wrote the song for another singer, but the whole time I was writing it, I thought – this song is just ME! So had to keep it!”

‘Run To’ is from Sophie Mina’s EP, ‘Fly’, which itself has received critical acclaim. You can stream and download ‘Run To’, as well as Sophie’s other music, on Spotify, Amazon, iTunes, and Deezer. Follow her online on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, SoundCloud, and her official website.
