Germany’s most successful trance DJ Duo and producers, Cosmic Gate have joined forces with acclaimed singer songwriter, JES. It’s not the first time the three have worked together: their singles ‘Flying Blind’ in 2012, and ‘Yai (Here We Go Again)’ in 2015 found success on Spotify with millions of streams. They were also nominated for Best Trance Track by IDMA. Their latest track, ‘Fall Into You’, with already 3 million streams on Spotify, is one of their most successful single releases, from their current album, ‘Materia’.
Cosmic Gate have worked with many of the biggest names in trance and house music, since their inception at the start of the millennium. Acts such as Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten are just a few – they’ve also remixed Tiesto, Deadmau5, and James Horner’s ‘I See You’, the official theme of the film ‘Avatar’. During it all, Cosmic Gate have remained true to their vision, which was to make smart, immersive and irresistibly propulsive trance, and by doing so pushing the genre forward. The rewards have been many, not least of which has been making DJ Magazine’s Top DJ Ranking no fewer than eleven times in the past 15 years.
JES is also respected in the business: the three times Grammy nominated dance music artist is known for her hits with Gabriel & Dresden as Motorcyle – the intoxicating ‘As The Rush Comes’ (Billboard #1), and her solo single, ‘Imagination’ (also Billboard #1), which was a much remixed smash hit that lit up the clubs in 2004. New York City vocalist JES has also worked with many prominent producers, including Tiesto, BT, Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond. Her powerful voice takes her listeners on an emotional, and musical journey.
The video for ‘Fall Into You’ focuses on JES, with her voice taking control, and the dark background emphasising the singer as she falls (into you) in space. The drums and lead synths don’t even kick in until the first chorus, and then we realise it’s really just been JES we’ve been listening to, the instrumentation had taken a back seat up until that point. A catchy dance track ‘Fall Into You’ is simple in all aspects but it’s proof enough that Cosmic Gate more than know what they’re doing – less is more.
