The record-breaking stage show ‘Once’, described as a love song to Dublin, has been wowing audiences from all over Ireland and abroad this summer at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre. Now entering its final weeks, Once must end on Saturday August 26.
This week the cast were joined by some special guests, The Ramparts, on stage at the Olympia Theatre to sing the show’s Oscar-winning song, ‘Falling Slowly’, written by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová. The Ramparts are an all-male Dublin-based acapella group whose talents have not gone unnoticed. They recently appeared on BBC’s new reality show, ‘Pitch Battle’, where their performance of ‘Falling Slowly’ qualified them through to the final stages. Following that performance, The Ramparts were approached by Brian Gilligan, who plays the lead role of ‘Guy’ in the hit show, to see if they’d like to join the cast of Once for a special rendition of the song.
