Brandon ‘Stix’ Salaam-Bailey has been making a name for himself as a producer and writer for other big name acts such as Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora. Now he’s released two of his own tracks, ‘Gettin2da’ and ‘Sorry Peta’.
Originally from Watts, California, rapper, producer, songwriter and entrepreneur Stix started out as a dancer in 2002, before moving into the music business two years later. He’s since that time had an extensive and successful career in that arena, including founding the popular hip-hop event, ‘The Pit’, and forming the pop group Fly Panda, which has seen support from the likes of Far East Movement, and Tyrese. Never one to let the grass grow under his feet, Stix figured it was high time he focused on his solo career.
Stix cites his influences as including Drake, Kendrick Lemar, and Snoop Dogg, and his lyrics are ones of hope, rather than despair, with their focus on getting out of the ghetto, rather than being about gangs or drugs.
‘Gettin2da’, produced by Stix’s friend, Young Fyre, known for his work with Britney Spears and T-Pain, is a down-tempo track with a simple rap spoken over a deep bass beat with some intriguing almost industrial sounds weaving in and out. ‘Sorry Peta’ was produced by Des HTH Souf & Wavy84. Both tracks are the set to be released on December 20, as the first releases from a new project which Stix will drop in early 2017.
