From England’s South Coast comes Zachary Dogwood, a band who describe their musical style as Alternative New Wave Post-punk.
The quartet is composed of Michael Budmani on keys, Gerry Bailey playing bass, James Court on drums, and vocals from Adam Seigel, who is also the songwriter.
Zachary Dogwood is part dance, part punk – there’s hints of Bowie and Pink Floyd in their sound. Their EP, ‘Juice’, is five tracks of songs influenced by the music of the 70s and 80s, as well as, we feel, England herself. Second song, ‘Sea Life’ and ‘Mother Britannia’ reflect this most clearly. Incidentally, our two favourite songs on the EP were these.
All the songs on the album are expertly played, demonstrating the band’s considerable musical ability and talent. Zachary Dogwood remind us somewhat of Australian band, Icehouse – the song ‘Another Kind Of Life’ reminds us of this in particular.
You can buy ‘Juice’ from Zachary Dogwood’s Bandcamp store. Find them online on Facebook, Reverbnation, Soundcloud, Youtube, and their website. Zachary Dogwood will be playing at The Beatles Festival at Printers Playhouse, Eastbourne, on April 2.
