Who ever thought that it was possible to blur the lines between country music, EDM and pop and come up with something that’s not just catchy but totally earworming!
That’s exactly what’s happened when country music trio, Lady Antebellum joined forces with EDM artist, Nate Rathbun – also known as Audien.
Their collaboration, ‘Something Better’, is a genre-less dance track, and shows that Lady Antebellum are more than just fantastic country singers – they turn whatever they touch into gold.
Lady Antebellum member, Charles Kelly told Entertainment Weekly about their reaction when approached to work with 23 year old Audien:
“Working with someone like Audien puts us a little outside of our comfort zone, but as a band, we’ve always been up for trying different things.
“The first time we heard the song, we knew we wanted to be part of it. We were immediately drawn to its great melody and powerful lyric.”
Grammy-nominated Audien originally approached Lady A to record the vocals, as the EDM artist felt the trio’s harmonies were perfectly suited to the song, with its “call-and-response” structure.
Combined with Audien’s flair for producing glossy, anthemic electro-pop, the track is destined to make a big impact. ‘Something Better’ is bound to mark Audien as Dance Music’s next big thing.
Audien says,
“With ‘Something Better’, I wanted to push boundaries.
“Lady Antebellum aren’t just some of the best voices in country music, but in overall music. It was a shot in the dark, but fortunately they felt as passionately about the song’s uplifting theme as I did. The result is simply my favourite thing I’ve ever done.”
