With a great seasonal take on the classic 70s hit, ‘Ça Plane Pour Moi’, The Rubettes featuring Alan Williams, are behind door number 21 with ‘Plastic Christmas’.
The Rubettes featuring Alan Williams, are best known for their number one hit single, ‘Sugar Baby Love’, and have until now never released a Christmas tune, unlike their Glam contemporaries Slade, Mud and Wizzard. This year all changes with their new release, ‘Plastic Christmas’. Instantly recognisable as being based on the 70s international hit, ‘Ça Plane Pour Moi’ by Plastic Bertrand, Alan’s reworked lyrics have been approved by Plastic himself, a good friend of Alan and the Rubettes, and with whom the band worked together many times on the European circuit.
The Rubettes were icons in the Glam Rock era of the 1970s, selling over 30 million records worldwide, and having 15 international hits and 8 albums.
The Rubettes featuring Alan Williams, John Richardson and Mick Clarke, all original Rubettes, will next year embark on their first solo U.K. theatre tour since the 70s.
