To celebrate National Siblings Day, we at Essentially Pop, thought we would share some of our favourite siblings of Pop.
JEDWARD
The ultimate siblings of pop, twins John and Edward Grimes, first entered the public arena in 2009 when they appeared on X factor famously claiming that in five years time they expected to be five years older. Five years down the line, they are indeed five years older, but they also have three number one albums, two consecutive appearances at The Eurovision song contest, a few TV series and a performance for the president of America under their belts. it seems these phenomenal siblings are unstoppable, and with a new self penned album on the way, we are excited to see what the next five years have in store for them.
The Jonas Brothers
Brothers Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas first came together as The Jonas Brothers in 2005, They stared in their own TV series and films for The Disney channel and released four Studio albums. In 2008 they were nominated for a Grammy and awarded Best Breakthrough artist in the American Music Awards. The brothers, who sadly disbanded the band in 2013, sold over 17 million albums worldwide.
Tegan and Sara
Identical Twins Tegan and Sara Quinn from Canada, began their career by recording a demo in their school studio, this led to them winning a competition to record a professional demo which in turn lead to a recording contract. The Girls have gone on to released Five albums with more on the way and are all set to play the worldPride festival in Toronto in June this year.
Liam and Noel Gallagher
The feuding Mancunian siblings, Liam and Noel Gallagher formed Oasis in 1991. They produced eight UK number one singles and eight number one albums, winning fifteen MNE awards, four EMA’s and six Brits. Despite the bands outstanding success, the brothers differences finally came to a head in 2009 when Noel announced he would be leaving the band. He went on to form Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds, whilst Liam and remaining members of Oasis continued under the name of Beady Eye.
