Every so often we at Essentially Pop will see something that catches our eye, and like a magpie with a shiny object, we know we must have it.
One such thing that has recently caught our fancy is Mas Agua.
Mas Agua is the brainchild of singer/songwriter David Ellis, who’s based in London, and Canterbury, Kent.
“Mas Agua” means “more water” in Spanish, and we think it’s a very apt description of Mr Ellis’s vocals, which are very soothing.
David is signed to C3U Records of Canterbury, and his track ‘Be Like You’ was recently named record of the week by BBC Introducing Kent and aired on BBC Radio Kent.
Mas Agua will be releasing in February the first of a two-part EP, accompanied by a promotional tour in Canterbury and London.
From David’s Facebook page:
“This project is centralised around vocal effects and loops with elements of guitar in some songs. Due to the unique nature of Mas Agua’s music, there is no one specific genre in which this fits into. However, many have described it as being “easy listening and chilled”, with some similarities to Bastille, Bon Iver, Jamie Woon and James Blake.”
We hope you’ll be as blown away as we were by the new video for his song ‘Be Like You’:
