Caro Emerald’s special blend of retro jazz, sampling and modern pop have come to be recognised as her own sound. With the look of a Hollywood star of yesterday and a voice that sounds like caramel, her live performances are not to be missed. The Daily Telegraph recently said:
“Caro Emerald had everyone in the palm of her hand’’ and her “infectious sense of fun and vintage charm can be relied on lift the spirits”.
Caro’s debut album, “Deleted Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor” (2010) went multi-platinum, and her second album “The Shocking Miss Emerald”, released in 2013, entered the Official UK Album Charts at number 1, and stayed in the charts for a whole year. With over 2.5 million record sales, 40 million views on YouTube, and awards such as an Echo, Goldene Kamera, Edison Award, EBBA and MTV Music Award – Caro has definitely put herself on the music map. Add to this sold out tours and appearances at events such as Glastonbury and the Isle of Wight Festival, and you get some idea of the impact of Miss Emerald.
27 April sees the release of Caro’s latest single, “Quicksand”, a sneak peek of her third album, due out this autumn. She returns to the UK to perform at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival on 30 April, which will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 2. This will be followed by a performance on 8 July at Kew Gardens, in the lead up to her UK tour, later this year.
