Kishi Bashi Presents His Evocative Music In Brighton – Concert Review

The second show for Kishi Bashi’s European tour hit The Hope and Ruin in Brighton last night. Demola – ‘Light Up’ f/ Wande Coal

Nigerian artist Demola isn’t afraid to do things differently and to mix it up when it comes to his music. In the ultimate sense of the word, Clements is a songwriter’s songwriter – we’re not listening for his voice, which is still quite appealing – but we’re hanging onto his every word as it drops from his lips.

And so the chance to see Blair reproduce this in an intimate, stripped back gig is the chance of a lifetime but also holds a little fear. Will the music that feels so beautifully produced, so minutely detailed hold up to the broader brush strokes of something more acoustic?
