New Order recently returned to live performance with a triumphant hometown show at Manchester’s Heaton Park, their biggest ever in the city. They will be back at The O2, London on November 6th for a sold out show and are extending an invite around the globe.

PET SHOP BOYS AND NEW ORDER CONFIRM CO-HEADLINING TOUR

Pet Shop Boys and New Order today confirm a co-headlining tour of North America. The two British electronic bands have announced that The Unity Tour kicks off September 5 in Toronto and sees stops in select cities including Madison Square Garden in New York, Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and more. Both bands will play a full set with the headliner alternating each night.

Late last year we introduced readers to Soft People, a husband and husband duo from San Luis Obispo, almost exactly in between San Francisco and LA. Their song ‘Absolute Boy’, struck us with its deeply personal lyrics, and 80s stylings, and we really enjoyed their sound. So we’re happy to announce that their new single, ‘Tender’, is set for release this Friday July 12, ahead of their performance at The California Central Coast Pride Festival that weekend.

‘Frequency’, from Liverpool’s The Tea Street Band, is a retro flavoured album which first brings to mind of the likes of Peppermint Heaven, crossed with Pet Shop Boys, and some industrial electronica for good measure.

On first listening to ‘Splashdown’ by Heron, I’m reminded of Joe Satriani’s track, ‘Always With Me, Always With You’, from his breakthrough 1987 album, ‘Surfing With The Alien’. There’s also elements that suggest Mark Knopfler’s ‘Going Home’, from the film ‘Local Hero’. There’s maybe even a hint of Tommy Emmanuel there. None of this is to suggest Heron’s piece is derivative, but rather, it’s an indication of the incredible quality of the track.
