Sister Duo Bringing The Party With Their Latest Single, This Is Walker County

Walker County is a sister duo from Sulphur Springs IN, a town of 390 people. Ivey Dene and Sophie Dawn would take frequent trips to Nashville from Sulphur Springs very early on, busking on lower Broadway. In fact, the first time the sister duo busked on Broadway Ivey was 12 and Sophie was 9 years old. Bitten by the performance bug the sisters started playing fairs and festivals until about 7 years ago, this duo made the move to Nashville permanently to pursue their passion for music full time.

I recently chatted with The Shires about their music and Ben Earle, one of the duet, mentioned that he felt U.K. Country acts were being seen as less of an embarrassing cousin in Nashville and that this was massively highlighted by the emergence of duets with respected US Country artists. The Shires have recently duetted with Lauren Alaina and Jimmie Allen on reworked Shires songs. Now, highly acclaimed UK Country artist Tim Prottey-Jones has released a brilliant new original song with “An Artist You Need To Know” , according to Rolling Stone Country, Stephanie Quayle.

Girl Goin’ For A Grammy, Ashley McBryde And Her Amazing Grammy Nominated song

It’s not every day that you hear about an artist being signed to a major record label at the age of 36 years old, especially in the modern country music landscape. It’s also not every day that you hear that artist is nominated for a Grammy for Best Country Song, with her first major-label release. However, not every artist is Ashley McBryde. Combining the classic country sounds and instrumentation of 90s country music, with honest, heartfelt vocal performances, McBryde is distinguishing herself from the pack and carving out her own place in modern country music.

Truxton Mile – ‘California In My Mind’

Bakersfield California holds a special place in the hearts of country music fans. It was in Bakersfield that country music first collided with rock and roll – the city of Merle Haggard and the outlaw sound of Dwight Yoakam, among so many others. Bakersfield’s country music is raw, hard, and passionate; it’s country played with an electric guitar, with lovelorn lyrics and the sound of a swinging saloon door. Epitomising this sound comes Truxton Mile, who keep the Bakersfield flame alive with their new single, ‘California In My Mind’.
