Parker Longbough – ‘The Youngster’

January 27, 2021

Back in October 2019 we introduced readers to Parker Longbough, the nom de plume of Matthew Witthoeft, a singer songwriter and musical artist from Anchorage, Alaska. The wide open spaces are strong in his songs, and no less so than in his latest single, ‘The Youngster’, which comes from his fifth album, ‘Crackle and Hiss’. Both single and long player were released on Friday 22 January.

Atria Tells Us That We’re ‘Lucky’ To Be Where We Are, And You Know What? He’s Right

January 27, 2021

Travis Atria is an author and musician, and it’s work as the latter that we’re going to talk about today. Performing as Atria – if you’ve got as excellent a name as that you may as well use it –  his latest single, ‘Lucky’, was released on Friday 22 January, and is taken from his upcoming debut solo album, ‘Moonbrain’, which will be out 2 April via Gold Robot Records.

Mara x Mini – ‘We Matter’

January 26, 2021

‘We Matter’, released on January 15 in honour of Dr Martin Luther King Jr, is the first single from Mara and Mini. The track shines a light on the systemic racism in US society, as well as the 13th amendment and black on black crime.

Two New Singles From The Provocatively Named War Panties – ‘Creaky Crooked Woman’ And ‘Delaware Cornfields’

January 26, 2021

With the cojones to proclaim themselves best bar band in Louisville, Kentucky, War Panties certainly have the skills to back it up, and with their two new singles, ‘Creaky Crooked Woman’, and ‘Delaware Cornfields’, they’re sharing with the world the funk grooves, humour, and irreverence that their fans have come to know and love.

Snuttock – ‘Stay’ (Robot remix)

January 26, 2021

Singer Bryan Lee, and multi-instrumentalist Christopher Lee Simmonds, of dark electronic pop group Snuttock, know a bit about how to make manipulation, they’ve been making remixes of their singles for years. The music video for the Robot Remix of their latest single, ‘Stay’, play with our perceptions, and reduces the images to their very pixels.

January 26, 2021

Kayne Dynell’s new single, ‘Shining’, follows on from his debut single, ‘Come Up’, which has so far garnered nearly 150 thousand streams on Spotify alone, and the new track is a fine example of his unique blend of harmonic hip hop, RnB, and Pop.

We Come ‘Face To Face’ With America’s Sweetheart’s Latest Single

January 26, 2021

As we come to the end of another month in this seemingly endless pandemic, we might well ask ourselves when we will ever again come face to face with someone from outside our immediate circle. New Jersey indie-pop group, America’s Sweetheart, asks “when will we ever meet?” in the second verse of their new single, ‘Face To Face’, and it’s a question that at the moment, feels unanswerable.

LBM – ‘Bad Habits’

January 22, 2021

LBM is not a new name for us here at Essentially Pop, in fact, we’ve been following his journey for nearly a year now, starting with his singles, ‘Stranded’, in May, and ‘Make Believe’ in July, last year. He’s back now with a fab new release, ‘Bad Habits’, along with a music video that beautifully captures the good looks and charm of the Pennsylvania singer and rapper.

Hidden Beams – ‘Animals’

January 22, 2021

‘Animals’ is the new single from Hidden Beams, who you may recall from his previous single, ‘Hidden’, back in September. The nom de plume of Carlos Argon, Hidden Beams’ style takes inspiration from the prog rock masters of the early 70s, while injecting his own melodic style, sense of rhythm, and novel chord stacking.

Kemme – ‘Cyclorama’

January 22, 2021

Kemme is a young singer songwriter, who’s never played by anybody’s rules except her own. This much is evident from her music videos, on which she takes a singular, and very personal approach. Her new single, ‘Cyclorama’, is in reality a seamless bend of the primary sections of three very different songs in her upcoming visual EP. Yes. You read that correctly. Her EP is visual. Like I said…
