M. Spano Brings Us ‘Something Different’ With Nostalgic New Track

New York’s M. Spano takes us on a shimmering journey of nostalgia with latest release, ‘Something Different’.

With an immediate immersion of gentle acoustic strums, accompanied by a swaying beat, and soaring electric guitar riffs, ‘Something Different’ recalls both the wistfulness and unavoidable heartache of young love. What might have started out as a simple fling, would sometimes takes lovers by surprise, and suddenly become intense, real feelings, with very little warning. The narrator of the song becomes obsessed with the “heart and soul” of the object of his affections, until he comes to the realisation that she’s perhaps not in the same place.

Reminiscent of a song from the late oughts, ‘Something Different’ calls to mind the likes of The Goo Goo Dolls, The Fray, and Lighthouse. Spano’s earnest pleading for his partner to “spare him”, sees him lay it all out in front of him, while the love he’d imagined slips through his fingers, as the girl doesn’t quite reciprocate his feelings.

The music video for ‘Something Different’ sees M. Spano reflected by the cityscape of New York behind him across the river. Likewise, the clip serves as a vessel for reflection, giving him an opportunity to reveal and make sense the deep emotions he’s feeling. He looks up to the sky, shaking his head, and it’s almost as though he’s reliving the very moment he knew it was all over, and feels that sting once more.
