Coffeeshop X Rob Roth Examine The ‘Dark Days’ And Provide An Anthemic Release

Coffeeshop joins forces with New York based artist, Rob Roth, on new single, ‘Dark Days’, an anthem for all of us who have felt the encroaching doom and gloom, and fear it may never end.

When the weight of life comes crushing down, with loneliness epidemics, the terror of international and national conflicts, and technological change approaching with increasing speed, it’s sometimes hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. As the trials of life mount, it’s difficult to fight the feelings of emptiness and unease. We’re not alone in thinking this; Coffeeshop and Rob Roth have been there too, and this is why they’ve created ‘Dark Days’.

With its soothing serenade, ‘Dark Days’ envelops the listener in a delicate haze of piano chords and atmospheric beats, while Rob Roth brings encouragement with his vocals. The lyrics could just as easily have been applied to a slow ballad, but in the hands of Coffeeshop they’ve been given an electronic treatment which transforms the song into an incredible dance track; providing a light in the darkness, showing it’s possible to find beauty, and serenity, despite being surrounded by the dark days.

The lyric video for ‘Dark Days’ sees Coffeeshop and the RRHOT team craft a deeply relatable story of inner turmoil and ultimate triumph. Everyday people are shown as they almost lose themselves, drowning in their darkest thoughts. By clever use of the text, the eyes of the viewer are guided towards the light, glowing just beyond reach, beckoning the people in the clip to move towards it. As the lyrics continue, the people begin to see the light everywhere – in the warmth of street lights, in fields of wheat, in the reflection of skyscraper windows. At the end, all that remains is beaming sunlight, there’s no darkness in sight – as it should be.
