Celeste Marie Wilson‘s latest single, ‘Ever Wanted’, tells a Cinderella story that is so perfect that it feels like it might just come true. With high energy rock and roll woven into a sparkling pop bounce, the track feels like it could have come off a coming-of-age movie soundtrack.
Back when Wilson was 19 years old she was on track to becoming a published children’s author, and while a change in that industry meant an end to that dream, her love for poetry made her turn to songwriting. this led to her finding that she could enchant audiences a different way.
Since then, she has been recognised by the music business, winning awards from the Texas State Songwriters Championship, the Hollywood Independent Music Awards, the Josie Awards, among others. She continues to charm with her bubbly personality and wise insights, and with each song, her lyrics stir the soul of every listener. Speaking to Buzz Russell, of KNES 91.5 FM, Celeste said, “When I’m up on stage, it’s not about me. Being able to sing and see people enjoy the story – I wouldn’t trade that for the world”.
While her previous release, ‘If I Sin For You‘, saw Wilson established as a writer capable of depth and nuance, evoking raw feelings of sensuality, darkness, and temptation, new single ‘Ever Wanted’ shows just how versatile she is, able to shift from dramatic confessions, to heartwarming love stories without ever missing a step.
With ‘Ever Wanted’, we see the narrator struggling to admit that the boy she’s with could possibly like her as much as she likes him. She knows exactly who and what she wants, but she hesitates, and hides, before professing her feelings to herself. The boy sheds his own doubts first however, and confesses his own feelings to her, their two hearts then meeting together in harmony.
The music video for ‘Ever Wanted’, crafted by Cold Creek Productions, is the perfect accompaniment to the song, set in a High School Prom. We see Celeste dressed to impress in a sparkling blue dress, struggling to express her true feelings, while all around her other young people are finding each other and enjoying themselves. She and her intended are pulled together, as if there’s some invisible thread binding them, drawing them closer, until he takes her hand and leads her to the dance floor, smiling all the way. Love does, and always will, find a way.
