A visionary instrumental composer, who kept his breathtaking compositions private for two decades, Alasdair James Dodds brings audiences on a journey of deep emotion with his latest single and music video, ‘Ballerina – Finding Love’.
‘Ballerina – Finding Love’, is classically elegant, with choreography by dancer Carla Hogarth helping to bring the poignant narrative of desire, heartbreak, and love.
‘Ballerina – Finding Love’ follows on from Dodds’ previous release, ‘The Ballerina’, released last year, which encapsulated the glory of a dancer’s first solo performance. Having considered that there was more to tell in the Ballerina’s story, Dodds spent twelve months creating the sequel, expertly blending the original tune into the new track, as an homage to the enduring spirit of the dancer. A music video, directed by Zackary Denman, and starring Carla Hogarth, brings the track to life, with all its emotional depths, grace, and intensity.
We see the Ballerina preparing for her routine, unaware that she is being observed by a male dancer, who is entranced by both her elegance and strength. She soon discovers he is there, and sparks fly. This initial connection is short-lived however, as her devotion to dance is not in keeping with the man’s desires, and he is humbled and heartbroken. Later the pair reconcile, and, mirrored by the strong emotion of Dodd’s music, their reunion is one of love and mutual support and caring.
‘Ballerina – Finding Love’ sees Dodds step into music video production, traversing steep learning curves with the help of Denman and Hogarth, in order to transform his music visually.
‘Ballerina – Finding Love’ was premiered on the 6th of August, and is available to stream and download here. You can watch the music video below. Find out more about Alasdair James Dodds and his music online on Instagram, Facebook, Spotify, and Apple Music.
