Marc Delgado Is Caught Up Doing The Same Old Thing Over And Over With ‘Stuck On The Radio’

A singer songwriter from Woodstock, New York, Marc Delgado tells the story of getting caught up in a rut where every day seems to be exactly the same as the last.

Delgado accompanies his worn-down lament with guitar and a steady drum beat, with a languid resignation in his voice as he relates his story.

Delgado uses extracts from a “radio show” to tell the story of someone who’s heard it all before and, while wanting to get on with life, isn’t quite sure how to go about it. It’s a great effect, sounding something like a far away voice coming over a car stereo speaker, scratchy and disjointed, the listener catching snatches every so often of the DJ’s patter (“it’s a song by Elliott Smith”).

Speaking about the track, Marc Delgado said,

“Stuck On the Radio is about a recurring dream I used to have when I was living in Sacramento, Ca. I was on the Business 80 Freeway in my underwear & it was maybe dawn or maybe dusk. I was doing a lot of drugs at the time & every day was exactly the same it seemed”.

The DJ is going through the same things as the singer; they’re in a dead-end job, working the middle of the night shift, hopelessly going through the motions, with nobody tuning in. It’s a realisation that life won’t be any different unless we actually make a concerted effort to change.
