Boston Trio Elsewhere Pay Tribute To The Police With Their Alt-Rock Cover Of ‘Don’t You Believe Me Baby’

Boston trio, Elsewhere, pay homage to their musical inspirations, The Police, with their cover of a long-lost demo that they discovered on YouTube, giving ‘Don’t You Believe Me Baby’ a distinctive alt-rock treatment, while losing none of the original track’s style.

Like many of us from Generation X, Elsewhere frontman and guitarist Michael Aroian grew up with The Police, and their seemingly endless run of hits from the late 70s right through to the 90s. So when he discovered a virtually unknown demo by The Police on YouTube about a decade ago, he knew he’d have to give it a whirl, and see if he could breathe new life into it. “The Police were essentially my Beatles,” said Aroian, “and I think many Gen Xers growing up in the ’80s and ’90s feel the same way.” In the hands of Aroian, and his bandmates, drummer Craig Morrison, and bassist Marc Ubaldino, ‘Don’t You Believe Me Baby’ has been given the delicacy and respect it deserves, in terms of their meticulous arrangement, instrumentation, and production.

Of course, such a track deserves to be shared with the world, and, back in 2021, when Elsewhere opened for legendary Canadian band, Our Lady Peace, at The Paradise Rock Club, in Boston, their live rendition of ‘Don’t You Believe Me Baby’ was recorded for posterity. It’s now been released on YouTube, and captures all the rawness and authenticity that would otherwise have been the exclusive experience of the 900 strong audience that night. It’s just one small glimpse of what fans experienced that night.

You can share in the experience of the video below, and find out more about Elsewhere and their music online on their official website, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
