A musical innovator who weaves together street culture and spiritual consciousness, Pastor Jamaal was once known as rapper Dubble A, who earned a number of awards for his sound that drew inspiration from the likes of James Brown, Lil Wayne, Tupac, among others. Along the way however he felt a calling to a different life, as a pastor, and discovered that music and ministry are two sides of the same coin.
New single, ‘Global Word’, from his upcoming album, is a celebration of healing and self-discovery, sees Pastor Jamaal channel his pain into praise, unstoppable against all enemies, temptations, or hardship. While infused with familiar elements we find in pop and hip-hop, ‘Global Word’ is an honest anthem of encouragement, while also being comforting, motivating, and compelling. The track is a celebration of healing and self-discovery as Jamaal sings his heart out, surrendering himself to God.
The music video for ‘Global Word’ sees Pastor Jamaal take to the streets of his hometown, Augusta, Georgia, giving an experience that is the perfect complement to the urban soundscape of the track. Flüency Photography enables viewers to have an inside glimpse at Pastor Jamaal’s world, along with the town that shaped him, the messages that move him, and his son, the person who fills his heart.
There’s also beautiful footage to emphasise this unbreakable bond between father and son. The pair are smiling ear-to-ear as they launch from the slingshot in Kissimmee, Florida, their joy a manifestation of faith, resilience, and renewal. Additionally, as he films in front of the R&B Hall of Fame mural, Pastor Jamaal pays homage to the legends who deeply influenced the genre. Above all else however, it’s clear that he’s sharing his shining a light on his roots and the journey that carried him from turbulence to triumph.
