Set for release tomorrow, March 1st, ‘Sweet, Hot & Heavy’ is the latest release from London artist, Delilah Isabella.
‘Sweet, Hot & Heavy’ is available to pre-save here.
Taking a deep dive into London’s queer nightlife culture, Delilah Isabella with her upbeat and retro sound follows on from other contemporary queer artists such as Chappell Roan, and even namechecks the ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer (along with Taylor Swift).
Opening with what feels like a heavenly chorus, ‘Sweet, Hot & Heavy’ soon gives way to the fast paced drum and electronic music, which, while totally 2025 still feels like it borrows from retro sounds, including a conversation that could have been made using landline telephones. It’s fun, it’s sassy, and has a whole vibe as if it’s part of a film or tv show soundtrack. Perhaps it could be?
Capturing the experiences of spending a night out in Soho, hoping to find a love that is sweet, hot and heavy, Delilah Isabella takes her inspiration by the energy found in queer women’s spaces, and reflects on her own personal experiences. She outlines what she’s looking for, such as she likes femme girls with their hair down to their waist; ones who don’t like labels; and ones who sit at bisexual tables. Basically, she loves women.
“I get asked constantly about my type, and as a queer woman, I’ve realized there’s no singular answer. Women are just beautiful and amazing”.
‘Sweet, Hot & Heavy’ sees Delilah collaborate with her friend and producer, Greg Hummell, and together they put together the track at Hackney Road Studios. Hummell had been integral to many of her previous releases. Additionally, there was a special contribution from a queer writer/director/actor friend, who was able to add a touch of humour to the second verse.
Queer lesbian singer songwriter Delilah Isabella’s sound is a blend of alt-pop, indie, and acoustic music, and, despite her challenges, which include a disability that impedes her mobility, and also impacts her brain function, is able to produce music that is light, upbeat, and meaningful. Her previous releases, such as her album, ‘Restless Dreamland’, see her reflect om her struggles with mental health and personal identity, and she continues this theme in her current music.
‘Sweet, Hot & Heavy’ is out tomorrow, March 1st.
