Christopher Wyze & The Tellers Has The Recipe To Help Us Get Free When We’re Feeling ‘Stuck In The Mud’

‘Stuck In The Mud’, the new single from Christopher Wyze & The Tellers, had its genesis back in March 2022, when Wyze was set to attend a singer-songwriter workshop, led by Ralph Carter, at the iconic Shack Up Inn, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. The unexpected cancellation of the workshop gave Wyze the incentive to approach Carter to collaborate, bearing as its fruit the 8 songs of their debut album, also called ‘Stuck In The Mud’.

A seasoned frontman with more than 2 decades of experience, Wyze has stepped up as an incredible lyricist, with an amazing voice, leading to his recognition by the Nashville Songwriters Association International as “One to Watch” in December 2023. His sound is a blend of blues, rock-n-roll, Americana, and country, all sewn up with his distinctive vocals and narrative songwriting style, born from his southern Indiana upbringing and his time in the Mississippi Delta.

‘Stuck in the Mud’ is a tale about the frustration and helplessness of being caught up by unfortunate circumstances, unable to move in any direction. The haunting lyrics and soulful blues melody truly portray this struggle, and Christopher Wyze’s vocals are soaring, with his deep, tones adding layers of emotional depth. Meanwhile Cary Hudson’s slide guitar helps to create a song that will resonate with anyone who has faced the relentless setbacks of life.

In the music video for ‘Stuck in the Mud’ we are transported to the Shack Up Inn, an iconic location, steeped in musical history and culture. Here Christopher Wyze & The Tellers are able to connect their contemporary sound with the timeless traditions of the Mississippi Delta, and the video serves as a visual and auditory feast.
