Up And Coming Reggae Star Reuben Jay Says ‘Now Is The Time’ To Release His Hotly Anticipated Debut EP

Released on April 4, ‘Now Is The Time’ is the debut EP from emerging reggae star, Reuben Jay. ‘Now Is The Time’ is available to stream and download here.

Originally from Jamaica but now living in Birmingham, England, Reuben Jay is a self-styled “son of the soil” who started his musical journey at an early age, listening to a steady diet of the likes of Anita Baker and Beresford Hammond. He soon started writing poetry, taking his inspiration from his everyday life, and from there he transformed his words into song, matching them to moving melodies.

A four track EP, ‘Now Is The Time’ opens with the energetic ‘Another Dollar’, which combines reggae stylings with Afrobeat influences. A collaboration with Vinnipee and Conscious Productions, at BLESST Studios, in Birmingham, the release sees him also utilise ska rhythms (particularly in track 2, ‘Hiyarter’, which feels like an homage to The Specials). Track 3, ‘Love Will Make Us A Way’ is probably the furthest departure from reggae, with a contemporary pop feel to it, while track 4, ‘Let Me’, closes with the opportunity for Reuben to fully express his rich vocal talents.

‘Now Is The Time’ is out now, and is available to stream and download here. You can find out more about Reuben Jay and his music online on Instagram, and TikTok.
