Canadian rock band Cold Weather Captains today release their latest track, ‘Royal Purple’. The lead single for their newest album, set to come out in September this year, the song demonstrates the band’s unique sound.
Although primarily rooted in rock, Cold Water Captains fuse multiple genres throughout their music, to create never-heard-before instrumentals accompanied by punchy vocals.
The Toronto-based band was founded back in 2018 as an instrumental trio composed of lead guitarist Bradley Scott, rhythm guitarist Erik Meechem, and drummer, Kevin Penny. After the release of their EP, ‘City Limits’, in 2021, they shifted focus and started focusing more on vocal jams, adding two members to the group; vocalist Justin Di Donato, and bassist, Christina Dare. The new members have contributed to a style shift, and every song they perform has its own unique twist on it. Now, the five member army seeks to show the world their new production styles with their upcoming album, and ‘Royal Purple’ is just a snippet of this new electric style.
‘Royal Purple’ continues the trends that the band set for themselves: multiple genres incorporated into an electric, high-energy fusion that provide an incredible listening experience. Justin Di Donato’s pumped-up vocals are accompanied by expertly constructed instrumentation from the rest of the band, who combine elements from different styles to make an energetic anthem that anyone can listen to and enjoy. ‘Royal Purple’ is just one of Cold Weather Captains’ songs from their upcoming September project, and judging by the brilliance of this song alone, there is plenty to look forward to.
