Out today, ‘Paint Me Gold’ is the debut single from Liverpool quartet, Gone Camping. The Indie Pop foursome, whose inspirations include Inhaler and The Strokes, among others, met during a casual conversation between four college classmates, during their A-Level studies.
The new single, is an ironic take on an ego-driven person whose self-obsession is beyond belief. The amount of attention they crave is in stark opposition to the amount they deserve. They want to be “painted in gold” in order to feel appreciated; as much as they tell others of how much their “crown” weighs them down, they are in reality a deeply insecure and underconfident person.
Fast-paced and upbeat, ‘Paint Me In Gold’ will have you tapping your feet and bobbing your head from the very first notes. With a catchy hook to the chorus, and steady percussion driving the guitars, ‘Paint Me In Gold’ is an undeniable dance track that deserves to find its way onto everyone’s playlists.
Having performed ‘Paint Me In Gold’ a number of times already across a wide range of venues, Gone Camping consulted the talents of producer Tayte Nickols of Mad Fox Manchester, to bring the studio version of the track to life. And so he did – ‘Paint Me In Gold’ is without doubt an unmissable hit, and bodes well for the talented four-piece.
Comprising Tom Wharton on guitar and vocals, Sam Mellor on lead guitar, Owen Martin on drums, and Curtis Powell on bass, Gone Camping bring the broad musical tastes of each member into a fusion of sound that has become their very own. So far they have performed at many prestigious venues across the North West of England, including Manchester Academy, Zanzibar Club, and The Jacaranda, and they’ve been played on Local and Live Liverpool Radio.
