Released last Friday, 1 July, ‘Mission In Affection’ is the new single from Dan Sheriston. The artist, whose influences are broad, probably most closely resembles Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber in style, while maintaining his own personal sound.
‘Mission In Affection’ is dedicated to Sheriston’s girlfriend Mia, and his love and heartfelt emotion is clearly evident in lyrics such as, “You are the rhythm to my rhyme”, and “you are the reason I’m alive”, words which would light up the heart of any partner. Dan’s vocals are strong and passionate, accompanied by the Spanish guitar sound of his guitarist Harry, who puts his own stamp on the track.
Observant eyes will notice that Mia’s name is to be found in the song’s title; making it a deeply personal track in more ways than just lyrics. Dan wrote the song in just two hours, saying, “The aim of the song was to make her feel happy and uplifted”.
Dan has grown up in a musical household, with his father being a DJ, and the experience contributing to his musical creativity, and his songwriting taking on a wide variety of genres. While Dan’s musical style sees him often fuse folk and pop with trap, soul, and RnB, for ‘Mission In Affection’, he has gone down a purely pop folk route, and the end result is gloriously catchy, and almost anthemic. If only we all had someone who loved us enough to write us a song!
‘Mission In Affection’ is available to stream and download here, and you can find out more about Dan Sheriston and his music online on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
