Australian pop punk duo 3REE have released their brand new single ‘Set This Place On Fire’, featuring guest vocals from Sleeping With Sirens frontman Kellin Quinn. Out now via Teamwrk Records, the track is available on all streaming platforms here.
The high energy rock track tackles the pressures of 2022 and the increasing strains on identity, belonging and on longevity of life on the planet. ‘Set This Place On Fire’ finds 3REE bringing their pop laced hooks with hardcore beatdowns to compliment the signature alt-metal screaming from Sleeping With Sirens’ Kellin Quinn.
“We’re living our childhood dream!”, 3REE say about their collaboration with Kellin. “It was amazing to collaborate with such an idol of ours.”
Continuing about how the collaboration came about 3REE drummer Sean Tighe explains,
“When we were writing the song, we could hear Kellin’s voice as a perfect fit with Mitch’s. I simply messaged Kellin the song and asked if he’d be interested and how wonderful it would be. Kellin’s response was fantastic, saying “WOW! This song is a banger” and “I can track my vocals by the end of the week”. We had to pinch ourselves.”
About the meaning of the song, 3REE vocalist and guitarist Mitch Volcan says,
“We built the song around the lyric ‘When the fire burns out we all come alive’; writing with the aim of connecting with the listener with the sense of rawness, energy and togetherness that you face during dark times.”
Since their formation in 2019 and the release of their self-titled debut album that year, 3REE have been quick to draw attention from further high profile names in rock. They are managed and mentored by iconic pop punk manager Rick DeVoe, who managed Blink 182 for over 20 years and has worked with New Found Glory, Angels & Airwaves and more.
3REE have also caught the eye of Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and former Panic! At The Disco drummer Spencer Smith. The attention came via a mashup of the band’s tracks 3REE posted on their Instagram, which impressed Pete and Spencer so much it prompted them to reach out to 3REE. A relationship sparked and Pete and Spencer both now also help mentor the Aussie pop punks.
Attracting the attention of rock royalty that most bands can only dream of attaining, 3REE are poised for success with ‘Set This Place On Fire’ as they make a huge statement on what to expect from the band in 2022.
