Which Entertainment Franchises Should Have Modern Slot Games?

Modern slots are far more sophisticated than those available in the past, thanks to their improved graphics and overall production values. This allows for more faithful adaptions of existing franchises, especially in the world of cinema and video games.

That’s not to say movie and game adaptions haven’t already happened in the past — there are existing slots for the Christopher Nolan Batman movies, Call of Duty and more — but modern adaptions have much greater potential.

Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy XVI - Awakening Trailer | PS5

Considering how long the Final Fantasy franchise has been on the go for (and the fact that other Square Enix slot games exist), it’s surprising that there has never been a slot title yet. There are lots of games to choose from, each with its own set of iconic characters and potential mechanics that could be adapted to slot games.

With the current hype split between Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy XIV, and the yet-to-be-released Final Fantasy XVI, any of the three would be good choices to adapt.

Harry Potter

Another franchise that has surprisingly not been adapted to slot is Harry Potter. This may have been in part due to an initial younger audience, but the series now has a high proportion of older fans — fans that are undoubtedly looking for more gaming content.

As with Final Fantasy, there are lots of possible choices when it comes to which entry to adapt. A potential Harry Potter slot game could always start at the first book,Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, moving further through the series as you reach higher payout multipliers.

Uncharted

Sony’s series of action-adventure games have captivated gamers from its conception on the PS3. It’s success even managed to influence the Tomb Raider series, which returned with an adventure that mirrored Nathan Drake’s escapades in many ways.

Now would be the perfect time to release a slot based on the franchise, what with the release of a new Uncharted movie in 2022.

The aforementioned Tomb Raider series already got its own slots, and the Rich Wilde slots give off an Indiana Jones vibe. On top of these examples, the newer slot Wild Expedition produces perhaps the most distinctly Uncharted-like vibe of all. This is a game currently exclusive to Gala Bingo, featuring its own slot-original adventurer on his adventure through jungles and ancient ruins.

Fortnite

Perhaps a stretch when it comes to franchises, though there are technically two Fortnite titles. On top of this, the series is still insanely popular, making a modern slot release a no-brainer. Even ignoring the many, many crossover characters (which in itself proves just how big the franchise is), Fortnite has lots of original characters and items to use in a potential slot game.

The building mechanic could also transfer smoothly over to slots, as you build up defences while also building up a huge payout multiplier. Furthermore, as the main title is constantly updated, any slot game could also be refreshed visually with additional content without much issue.

James Bond

Unsurprisingly, the James Bond franchise has actually had a few slot game adaptions in the past, but these have mostly been older, smaller scale releases. They didn’t really capture the feel of 007, something that could be rectified with a modern release.

This is another franchise that has lots of history to draw from, including various depictions of the Secret Service agent and lots of movie adaptions. This allows for lots of opportunities to include eye-catching video interludes after certain spins, showing some of the franchises most iconic moments. Plus, with No Time To Die having just wrapped up the Daniel Craig era, Bond fans will be eager for any and all possible new content.
