If you’ve been living under a rock then you’ll probably not have noticed that Jedward have been in the news a lot. If it’s not for their music, and their incredible banger of an album, ‘Voice Of A Rebel’, with their 22 self-written and produced songs, it’s for their astute political commentary on social media, and, more recently, the shaving of their trademark quiff hairstyles, in order to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society.
This morning they spoke with Stephen Dixon on Sky News Breakfast, and in less than 5 minutes managed to cover:
- Raising money for Cancer
- Trans Rights and Healthcare
- Black Lives Matter
- LGBTQ Rights to marriage in the Catholic Church
- and sing a short cover of Sinead O’Connor’s classic hit, ‘Nothing Compares 2U’.
Additionally they explained the tweet that had so enraged many, that they weren’t disrespecting Winston Churchill’s statue, but rather it was a comment on the “protection” of the statue by police in comparison to the treatment of those who attended the vigil for Sarah Everard at Clapham Common; that is, there needs to be a reassessment of what’s more important.
