Chinese singer songwriter, Monet, has released the first single from his upcoming debut EP. ‘U R’, which was created in collaboration with Grammy nominated producer Simon Cohen, and ARIA charting producer and writer Jhay C. ‘U R’ was recorded in Sydney, at Studios 301.
Piano-led, ‘U R’ is a pop anthem and a half, with Monet’s vocals catching the listener right from the start. About a third of the way into the track, the piano is over-layered with an EDM track, which gives it a strong dance feel. With bass and lead guitar, percussive elements, and Monet’s strong vocals, ‘U R’ is certainly radio ready. The upbeat tempo should also ensure that ‘U R’ will be a hit on the dance floor, and we hope Monet gets the opportunity to perform it live.
Monet has many strings to his bow, and besides making his pop music debut, with his first EP set to be released early next year, closely followed by a full length album, he’s also been working tirelessly on his first film, on which he’s the director. Additionally, he’s working on a fashion line – clearly Monet is an artist, just like his namesake!
