You may not know her name (yet), but you will have heard her work before. Astræa, one of the industry’s go-to producers, has worked with everyone from Jack Savoretti to Ward Thomas. Making her way to the top of an industry which is overwhelmingly male-dominated field is no mean feat, and Astræa has more than staked her own territory. Her work has been used to soundtrack some of the biggest moments on television, and her hauntingly beautiful cover of ‘You’re Not Alone’ was used in the Lloyd’s Bank advert.
Now, though, it’s time for Astræa to step out on her own.
‘Tonight I Run’ is the perfect song to do this. With a lyrical theme of overcoming adversity and challenges in the pursuit of dreams, Astræa is seen crafting the ultimate “anthem for the underdog” – both encouraging young women to follow in her footsteps as well as acknowledging the steps she has taken and the hurdles she has overcome so far.
The song itself melds analogue instruments such as piano with synths and electronic ambience to create a truly atmospheric soundtrack, over which Astræa’s vocals soar. It’s a truly remarkable track from an artist cementing her status as one to watch.
Listen to ‘Tonight I Run’ below and keep your eyes peeled for a video coming soon!
