Newcastle based singer/songwriter Ren, aka Conor Owen, has released his new single ‘Willow’. Instantly captivating thanks to Ren´s beguiling voice, wiith its meaningful lyrics over the main guitar melody, the song eventually boasts some fine instrumentation due the presence of a stunning string arrangement.
‘Willow’ is a capacious song musically, and incredibly reflective, and something of a grower, yet inviting, nonetheless. With hints towards other singer/songwriter heavyweights like Jose Gonzalez and James Taylor, the track also gave me some Nick Drake vibes too.
Recorded in London, and mixed by Paul Gregory of Lanterns On The Lake, ‘Willow’ is available on Spotify now along with some of Ren’s previous releases, including ‘Blue Hounds‘, which really shows him off as a guitarist too. Ren has confirmed that new music is due for 2020.
Ren will be performing at Café Indiependent, Scunthorpe, on 30 November, as part of Belwood Music’s 5th Birthday Bash. You can find out more details, as well as buy tickets, here.
