This success story is only the latest in a career made of highlights. Initially shooting to international fame as the lead singer of The Scheme, James has since struck out on his own and released a string of cracking singles. ‘Eyes Open’, ‘I’ll Be Here’ and ‘Anymore’ all broke into the top 40, but it is with new release, ‘Get Back to Love’ that it appears that Kris James has truly found his stride.
Forgoing his deep and emotional style of songwriting, Kris James instead has been inspired by disco. ‘Get Back to Love’ is a blast from start to end, a funk-fuelled party anthem while still keeping James’ earnest tones. I defy you not to start dancing when this tune comes on at all your Christmas parties this festive season. But that’s not all.
Every musician dreams of one day having their face plastered up on a Billboard in Times Square. Few actually achieve it. Kris James is one of these few. That’s right, as of last month, Kris James’s face has been gracing a much-coveted billboard in the world-famous Times Square. James posted about this milestone on Facebook, saying that
“as a little boy growing up I always used to look up to the Times Square Billboards hoping that one day my music might be up there! Today that dream came true!!! Don’t give up on your dreams guys.”
Inspirational yet humble messages such as this one are at the core of who Kris James is. With further musical announcements on the horizon for next year, Kris James certainly is one to keep an eye on.
