Finnish punk pop sensation ALMA has just finished touring the UK supporting Christina Aguilera on her X Tour, and beguiled a select London audience in a secret concert last week at the Camden Assembly. Now she celebrates by releasing her new single, ‘Bad News Baby’, the third track from her forthcoming debut album, ‘Have U Seen Her’, which is set for release next year.
Known for her highlighter hair – which we were thrilled to discover actually does glow in the dark – ALMA continues to deliver some of, if not the best, pop-punk music around. ‘Bad News Baby’ is produced by her friend and co-writer Al Shux, who is best known for working with Jay Z, Snoop Dog, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, and Lana Del Rey – you get the idea – who also co-wrote the track with ALMA, along with Joe Janiak, who himself has an impressive writing cred, for the likes of Ellie Goulding, Tove Lo, and Britney Spears.
Speaking of the song, ALMA said,
“Bad News Baby is my alter ego who can do anything and is unbreakable. She is fearless, she is anxiety free, she doesn’t care what you think of her.”
Still just 23, ALMA has taken the global charts by storm, with her incredible scream-along hooks, such as the unforgettably earwormy “I’m chasing high high high high highs” and irresistible melodies.
‘Chasing Highs’, which ALMA wittily introduced at Camden Assembly as “my hit”, and ‘Karma’ have reached platinum status, while ‘Dye My Hair’ went gold.
ALMA is everything but the stereotypical pop princess and has gathered unto herself such fans as Annie Mac, Miley Cyrus, Sir Elton John, and Dua Lipa, the latter of whom she worked with in LA last summer. She has toured extensively and brought her brand of pop and punk together in a wildly energetic show, which is one not to be missed.
