Jerad Finck Is The Voice Of A Generation Of Protestors In His Latest Song ‘New Kids’

Analogue know-how and political messages combine in Jerad Finck’s new track, ‘New Kids’, making him the voice of a generation of protestors.

As the youth strike against climate change inaction of the government continues on a weekly basis all around the world, many strikers are turning to music and lyrics in order to express their frustrations with a broken system. Enter Shikari, John Lennon, and Bob Marley are among the lyrics written on placards in protests and marches, but now Jerad Finck has been added to the mix with his anthemic new single, ‘New Kids’.

Profits from a version of the song remixed by popular UK duo Seawaves – which currently has nearly 200,000 Spotify streams – was released in support of Everytown For Gun Safety, a non-profit which advocates for gun control against gun violence. Jerad partnered with Everytown to help raise awareness for common-sense gun reform – an issue which is very important to him.

It’s a song which was seemingly written purely for this occasion. The lyrics are nothing less than a cry to arms, repeatedly stating “we are the new kids… time to rise up, gonna hear our voices”. A timely message, it seems, as the rebels from Extinction Rebellion set up camp in the light whiling away behind buildings in Trafalgar Square and the full moon begins to rise.
