Canadian pop outfit Walk Off The Earth are back with their brand new single ‘Home Alone’.
The song is taken from their highly anticipated new album, ‘Here We Go’ due for release on October 25th. According to the band, the album is a collection of songs about love, loss and straight-up kicking ass.
The single ‘Home Alone’, with its acoustic-led verses quickly evolves into a stadium feeling chorus. Even Forbes Magazine calls it a “catchy, uplifting engaging track”. It sounds anthemic, a chorus that will have a crowd of thousands singing along across arenas. Quite an appropriate song taking into consideration that the band have just finished an extensive summer tour, which included a date at London’s Wembley Arena. ‘Home Alone’ would have gone down like a house on fire in an arena setting and I am sure the band love performing it live.
Despite the pop euphoria of ‘Home Alone’, the band have battled with personal issues that I am sure has influenced their songwriting. Former band member Mike ‘Beard Guy’ Taylor unexpectedly passed away last year. In honour of their former band member, the group kicked off their album campaign with an original song called ‘Mike’s Song’. It helped raise thousands of dollars for MusiCounts – Canada’s music education charity associated with the Juno Awards.
The band shot to fame by covering Goyte’s ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’. The cover version which has garnered over 187 million YouTube views sees the five of them all playing the one guitar. Since then they have released a string of successful singles and have gone on to sell out venues in their native Canada. This October sees the band embark on further Canadian dates.
‘Home Alone’ is out now. The album, ‘Here We Go’ will be released on October 25th.
