What ‘Temperature’ Is Your Milk? New Music From Irish RnB/Pop Group

Back in 2016 we caught onto the incredible ‘Sing Street‘, an Irish film which should by rights have made more of an impact than it did, but nonetheless has made stars of the two main leads, Ferdia Walsh Pelo, most recently seen as King Alfred the Great on The History Channel’s ‘Vikings’, and Lucy Boynton – who I’m sure everyone knows as Mary, Freddie Mercury’s girlfriend then best friend, in the Hollywood blockbuster, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Now it’s the turn of yet another member of the ‘Sing Street’ family, Mark McKenna, who played multi-instrumentalist Eamon in the film. Mark wasn’t just pretending; he’s an accomplished musician, and when he’s not acting (he stars as the titular character in the much acclaimed YouTube Premium series, ‘Wayne’), he’s playing music.

Late last year Mark was messing around with some musical ideas with his friend Conor Gorman. This led to them forming Milk, which was rounded out by Morgan Wilson on drums, and Conor King on bass. Conor Gorman plays lead guitar, while McKenna is the vocalist. The fourpiece draw inspiration for their music from a range of genres, most notably pop, electronic, and RnB.

Debut single, ‘Drama Queen’, has to date over 200,000 streams on Spotify alone, and had its premiere on Irish music blog Nialler9. The single also saw features in Dork Magazine, and GoldenPlec, among others.

Milk describe themselves as an indie pop band, and produce all their music independently, alongside Adam Redmond, of Dublin’s Flaked Studios. Speaking about ‘Temperature’, they said,

Temperature is about the changes felt between two people, whether in situations of love or lust. It’s also about the unity that’s felt between two people during sex.

‘Temperature’ is out today, Friday July 19. It’s a loosely RnB track with strong pop sensibilities. It’s characterised by a fuzzy synth sound, which works well with McKenna’s vocals.

Milk recently sold out their first headline show in legendary Dublin venue, Whelans, and are planning more shows, to be announced soon.

Stream ‘Temperature’ on SoundCloud, Spotify, and Apple Music. You can find out more about Milk online on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and their official website.
