“We used to be in love, we used to be inseparable.
Now it’s a little awkward, it’s like we’ve never met before.
It’s almost like we’re strangers, remember when we had it all?
We used to dream big, now it’s just small talk.”
Louise today premieres ‘Small Talk’, a brand new track from her upcoming album ‘Heavy Love’.
‘Small Talk’ is deeply personal song, with lyrics that anyone who has gone through a break up will relate to. Louise wrote ‘Small Talk’ with Iain James (who co-wrote Read All About It with Emeli Sande, as well as hits for Little Mix, Anne-Marie and Olly Murs), singer/songwriter Georgia Ku and Tom Meredith (who penned the hit single ‘Ciao Adios’ for Anne-Marie.
Louise says:
“‘Small Talk’ is a personal favourite of mine. I remember during the recording process thinking lyrically this song was really clever and also so relatable no matter whoever you are. I’m so excited to share with you another song from the album.”
Recorded in Sweden, London and LA, ‘Heavy Love’ is Louise’s first album in 18 years. She has worked on the album with a sensational collection of music luminaries including Clean Bandit, RAYE, Eg White, Sinead Harnett and Karen Poole.
Louise premiered the first song from the album ‘Stretch’ in March, a slick slice of mid-paced electric funk pop song that was playlisted at Radio 2 and won praise from pop fans across the country.
Louise rose to fame as one quarter of pop supergroup Eternal, the first girl band ever to sell over 1 million copies of an album with their 1993 debut ‘Always & Forever’. As a solo artist Louise has had 18 consecutive top solo 20 singles, 6 with Eternal and 12 Solo. Her debut solo album ‘Naked’ sold over 1 million copies and overall she has sold over 15 million records worldwide and 5 million records in the UK.
