Not long after accepting the invitation to represent Finland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, the platinum selling, award-winning DJ/Producer Darude has released the first of three possible entries for the global song contest. Along with two other tracks, Darude and vocalist Sebastian Rejman will perform ‘Release Me’ at UMK, Finland’s national selection for the Eurovision entry.
All three tracks will be released on Armada Music, the worlds’ biggest independent dance music label, with whom Darude has lately been enjoying a very fruitful partnership.
Speaking about the tracks, Darude said,
“I’m super excited to be partnering with Armada for Eurovision. I cannot think of a better label to work with to bring dance music and a slice of club culture to the Eurovision fans. This first track, ‘Release Me’, is close to my heart as it reveals some of the trials and tribulations that come with being a touring DJ and family man. Find me on my socials and let me know what you think, and I’ll be seeing you on the dancefloor soon!”
Sebastian Rejman will be singing the chosen song alongside Darude at the Eurovision, to be held this year in Tel Aviv, Israel, and adds,
“It’s so great to do this thing with Darude and Armada. It’s an honour to be a part of this project and get the opportunity to rock the Eurovision stage with all of you!”
Since his arrival on the world stage way back in 1999, Darude has maintained a place as one of dance music’s most influential artists, with his breakthrough track, ‘Sandstorm’, garnering more than 115 million streams on Spotify alone, as well as over 140 million plays on YouTube. His music has been featured on such globally recognised events such as Euro 2000, Wimbledon, The Olympics, NFL, NBA, and the UFC, as well as making appearances everywhere, from Hollywood films, to advertising videos for Nike, and Playstation, and video games such as DJ Hero, and Angry Birds. With his participation in Eurovision, Darude is ensuring his music reaches new ground, and is bound to become one of the stand-out moments for the year, if not in his entire career.
