Six Quick Questions With Swiss Songwriter And Performer Veronica Fusaro

Swiss songwriter and performer Veronica Fusaro dropped single ‘Venom’ in October. In conversation with Malvika Padin, she reveals the message behind the track, her evolution as a singer and the discussing memorable moments and future plans.

What would you say is the inspiration/message behind ‘Venom’?

Venom is about the moment you realize that the person you handed your heart to keeps messing around with it. The relationship wasn’t doing you any good from the very beginning, and just like venom it slowly but surely numbs you from the inside.

Would you say most of your music is based off personal experiences or do you take creative liberties with it?

Life. I always write about things that won’t stop tormenting my heart and mind. Sometimes its fun painting out details and adding little things that didn’t really happen, and sometimes it just feels right to tell the blank truth, how things actually happened.

How would you describe your sound and how has it evolved over time?

I’d describe my sound as a soul pop mixture. Especially my new stuff (which most of isn’t released yet) dives deeper into that world. The singer songwriter influence is definitely still there thought, I used to obsessively listen to Ed Sheeran’s ‘+’ album, which marked me as a songwriter. I guess my sound has evolved just like I did. It evolves with the music I listen to.

Who are inspirations/influences both professionally and on a personal level?

There are a few artists that I look up to. Amy Winehouse is one of them. Her lyrics are a piece of art to me, I believe every word she sang. Honest, vulnerable and frank. Frank Ocean would be another one. I always get lost when listening to his music, it’s like entering this world of his, created of beautiful sounds and intriguing lyrics. On a personal level it’s my mom. She’s the best and always so kind and gentle to people and she has so much patience.

If listeners could take away one message from your music what would you want that to be?

Be honest with yourself. Therefore, be yourself.

What’s been a really memorable moment in your career so far? And what’s next for you?

Oh, there’s quite a few of them…I got to see so many parts of this world this year, which I’m very grateful for. A moment I’ll never forget took place at the Swiss Music Awards at the beginning of this year. It was the first time that I got to stand on a stage in a stadium. That was pretty mind blowing! And what’s next? Well other than touring and promo: Writing music! Planning the next steps, figuring out next year and all of that stuff. And hopefully a couple of shows in the UK soon! 🙂
