Dido Returns After Five Year Hiatus With New Album ‘Still On My Mind’ Out March 8 And Announcement Of 27 Date Tour

Dido is set to return with the announcement of her first new album in five years, ‘Still On My Mind’. The record will be released on March 8 through BMG.

If that wasn’t enough, the ‘White Flag’ and ‘Thank You’ singer has also announced her first tour in 15 years, taking in a total of 27 dates worldwide, covering Europe – including 3 dates in the UK and one in Ireland – and North America.

The multi-million selling singer will commence her tour on May 5 in Praguge, at the Forum Karlin, and in addition to her new album, will also sing all her classic hits, such as ‘Thank You’, Here With Me’, White Flag’, and ‘Life For Rent’. Dido will perform at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on May 26, The Olympia Theatre in Dublin on the 27th, Manchester’s Albert Hall on the 29th of May, and the Roundhouse, in London, on May 30. The show then moves on to the US and Canada, winding up at Seattle’s Showbox SODO on June 30.

‘Still On My Mind’ is Dido’s 5th studio album, and was written in recorded in the UK, in collaboration with her long term production and songwriting partner and brother, Rollo.

Speaking of the album, Dido said,

“It was simple, I only wanted to make another album if it was with him. It was made in such an easy way, all the vocals recorded on the sofa, a lot of it recorded at home.”

She added that it was,

“an absolutely magical experience. I wanted to capture the feeling I still get from listening to music, just that rush like you don’t need anything more than this”.

Dido’s previous release was 2013’s acclaimed, ‘Girl Who Got Away’. ‘Still On My Mind’ takes on a wide range of styles and genres, from her love of hip hop, to her folk roots, but overall the whole album has a dance and electronic music sensibility, even on those tracks which have no beats. Ultimately, it’s about the songs, which capture the very essence of Dido’s personality and emotionality.

First single from the album is ‘Hurricanes’. From the outset it’s clear Dido’s voice has lost nothing of its strength and richness. It can be streamed and downloaded here today, and is also available as a free download when pre-ordering the album here.

Tickets for Dido’s tour go on sale November 16. For further information about tickets and tour dates, see Dido’s official website.
