Pop Noir – ‘White Jazz’

Twins Joe and Luke McGarry, originally from Manchester, UK, but now based in Los Angeles, perform together as Pop Noir. They shot the video for their latest single, ‘White Jazz’, right in the middle of the Shibuya shopping district in Tokyo, and capture the hallucinatory nature and sheer explosive energy of the area.

The McGarry twins have long mesmerised audiences with their music, since they started in the mid-2000s. The pair are award-winning visual artists, whose speciality is to match musicians with graphics which amplify the strength of their recordings, and have worked with the likes of Guster, Desaparecidos, Hoodie Allen, and Viceland, as well as guiding the visuals of FYF Fest, and Tenacious D’s Festival Supreme.

‘White Jazz’ serves as a sequel to Pop Noir’s 2015 release, ‘Don’t Fool Yourself’, which sees the pair crusing the deserted streets of early morning LA. in ‘White Jazz’ however, the duo are on foot, trading glances while side-by-side, while showing the marketplaces, temples, the metro trains, and other aspects of life in the Japanese capital. The clip is the perfect match to the gorgeously moody song.
