Couch Jackets – ‘Don’t Think Just Breathe’

“Couch Jackets sounds like an alligator’s eating us” says the bio details on the Little Rock Arkansas’ band’s Bandcamp page. It’s an indication of their sense of the quartet’s sense of humour, but their musical prowess is no joke. Their latest song, ‘Don’t Think Just Breathe’ comes with a fantastically satirical video, and is clearly as much fun for both the band and the viewer alike.

The group’s emphasis on texture and experimentation could put them in the neo-psychedelic movement, while their groove gives off a 70s pop vibe. They also take inspiration from country music, and their most recent album, ‘Go To Bed’, was even made in Nashville.

Alongside their sound, they’ve also developed a video which is the perfect match for the track. Satirising those who obsessively watch the news, cooking shows, reality TV, as well as the actual act of eating dinner, they send a musical and visual message and it’s only a matter of time before everyone gets it.
