London soul singer Nazarene released her latest EP, ‘ICONICS’ on April 3. The 4 track EP contains the songs, ‘Spins Of The Moon’, ‘Marlon’, ‘Otis – King Of Soul’, and a live jam, ‘Follow Your Heart’.
Nazarene is part of the ‘Ultimate Divas’ project, and and plays Aretha Franklin, alongside some of the best performers on the West End, in Musical Theatre, and on Television. Nazarene also played an important role on the show, ‘Pale Imitations’, as composer and singer, while playing with many talented musicians, who also appear on her new EP. Cole Toury, and Lascarache Laurentis (Laur) feature on ‘ICONICS’, while Toury joined David Will Mitchell in writing the lyrics and music respectively. Toury also produced the EP.
As the name suggests, ‘ICONICS’ takes its inspiration from cultural icons: ‘Marlon’ is dedicated to Marlon Brando; ‘Otis – King Of Soul’, for the legendary Otis Redding; and ‘Follow Your Heart’ is based on Steve Jobs’ famous speech to the June 2005 intake of students at Stanford University.
Lead track, ‘Spins Of The Moon’, is an homage to Martin Luther King Junior, with ‘ICONICS’ released the day before the 50th annivesary of his death, in tribute.
The video for ‘Spins Of The Moon’ has been acclaimed by the Martin Luther King Research And Education Institute, in Stanford, California. You can see the video here:
