Nick Lamb – ‘Getting High Off You’

Singer songwriter Nick Lamb, from Riverside, California, writes music from the heart. His latest single, ‘Getting High Off You’, expresses the deep joy his wife brought to his life at a time when all he could think about was partying.

An inspiring rock song with a simple but touching message, ‘Getting High Off You’, it starts out loud and fast with a catchy refrain. The lyrics are simplistic but passionate, and the guitars and drums are huge and furious, reminding us of the “haircut” bands of the 80s. Not a bad sound, it should get people up on the dance floor.

A skilled musician, Nick takes the vocals and guitars, including lead, rhythm, and bass, while some additional bass is performed by Steve Harding. Johnson Zhang is on drums.

Nick grew up in a small coal town in central Pennsylvania, the third son of Lorraine and Tom Lamb, a writer and performer respectively. Although Nick and his four brothers were raised in extreme poverty, love was all around. Tom was the local celebrity, playing and singing both country and rock’n’roll on all the local radio stations and at town functions – including the annual Policeman’s Ball. When he died, Phillipsburgh PA radio station WPHB held an all-day tribute.

His mother Lorraine was a full time mother whose passion was writing, and she finished three historical romances at her old typewriter: sadly none were ever published. Pursuing her passion she learned to write through a correspondence course and by reading her favourite novels. She told Nick, “you have the best parts of both your father and I!” – a career in music was always going to be for Nick. When he was 13 he received his greatest gift – a one speaker cassette player, and two Def Leppard cassettes. He put his passion to work, learned guitar, drums, singing, and composition, and at the age of 29 went to Pennsylvania State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in film and video production, before going on to get his Master Of Fine Arts in creative writing, from Wilkes University.

Nick Lamb’s influences include the classic rock of the 60s and 70s, mid 80s metal (bands such as Guns and Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Metallica, and Judas Priest). In the 90s he discovered the likes of Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and then in the 2000s he started taking inspiration from Chris Cornell and Audioslave, as well as Velvet Revolver, STP, NIN, and Tool. He’s a music lover at heart however with his tastes also including legendary Irish band The Cranberries.

‘Getting High Off You’ is available to stream and download from Amazon, iTunes, Spotify and Bandcamp. You can find Nick Lamb online on Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, and YouTube.
