Brighton based duo Suzi Island serve up a piece of alt-rock perfection with their debut single, ‘Show Me the Way’.Â
At only 19-years-old, Matt Carter and Hugh Reilly-Smith have achieved something most artists spend their whole lives dreaming of; an accomplished and indisputable dose of pure brilliance.
The single is set to be released on 23rd March with London-based singles label Jump the Plane, and was produced and mixed by Pete Robertson (formerly of The Vaccines). The influence of this rock royalty is quickly recognisable through the track’s chanted, more-ish chorus and honest, relatable lyrics.
Suzi Island is the latest step of the duo’s journey in music. They began to play together at a young age in their hometown of Andover and moved to Brighton together to study music. ‘Show Me the Way’ draws inspiration from the band’s everyday lives and surroundings, the ambiguity, discovery and (most of all) fun of moving to a new place. However, it must be said, a flat in Brighton has never sounded so good.
The band have a big 2018 planned, with several new singles currently in the works. They also promise a string of live dates, following their successful first show at The Green Door Store in January.
So, keep your ears open for the seaside-set sounds of Suzi Island, sure to be making it to a radio near you sometime in the very near future.
