JES – ‘Get Me Through The Night’

For the past decade Grammy nominated New York artist JES has been one of the most exciting forces in dance music. She has a distinctive sound and bold and unique fashion sense, and is a singer, writer, producer, and DJ, with the knack of cutting straight through to the emotional core of a song. JES’s latest track, ‘Get Me Through The Night’ follows in similar vein to her previous recordings – it’s wonderfully danceable, it’s beautifully sung, and it offers the same message of hope and comfort in hard times that have become her signature.

JES’s band, Motorcycle (‘As The Rush Comes’), and her collaborations with Tiesto (‘Everything’), and Cosmic Gate (‘Fall Into You’) have established her versatility, while her songs have been remixed by the likes of Ferry Corsten, Paul Oakenfold, Armin Van Buuren, ATB among others. Club music has always been her forte, but as she showed through her critically acclaimed acoustic series of reinterpretations of her electronic hits, JES possesses a voice that works its wonders straight across genres.

The synths are dazzling, the beats are propulsive, and the chorus is captivating and anthemic. ‘Get Me Through The Night’ is a crossover from pure EDM to electronic pop, it’s a top 40 track and is already making a mark on Beatport and finding its way onto Spotify playlists, winning for JES a new audience, while at the same time continuing to excite the fans who have followed her career.

The video for ‘Get Me Through The Night’ sees JES alone in the desert, drawing on her self-confidence and strength as she fights through the memories of a painful breakup. She’s stuck in a trailer, parked on the edge of a dirt road. This serves as a metaphor for the isolation she feels in terms of her relationships, and the feeling of limitation imposed by the breakup. The sun soon rises however, and JES is walking from the desert towards the hills in the distance. Regardless of how dark the night, there is a brighter day to come.
